We all know them and maybe you are one yourself. Parents who see that their child is Baptized, and then slowly fade away from Mass. Guilt (or pressure from a grandmother) may make them sign the child up for CCD and then after First Communion, they fade back out again. Bishop Richard Malone of the Diocese of Buffalo addresses this issue that has become more and more visibly prevalent.

Sadly I was one of those parents and as I have come back to the faith this now weighs heavily on me. I now pray that my grown kids will find their way back but it is something I will never be able to live down and it hurts. I managed to alliente my wife from church also and that hurts as well sitting at mass on my own week in and week out.
