Please Pray for Baby Faith

UPDATE: Just received this message:

I am sad to report that at 4:40pm Faith Hope Walker at 93 days old went to be with our Lord and Saviour.

Faith died peacefully in her mother's arms with her family around her. I would ask you all to continue to pray for Myah and their family. This will be a time of great pain for them.

+Requiescat in pace, sweet baby Faith.+

Please pray for Baby Faith. You may recall she and her mom have been on my prayer list for months. See here for other +Ponderings+ about Faith and Myah. Faith has been suffering from unexplainable hemorrhaging over the past few days and this is the most recent news posted by Myah just today:

"My poor little girl is still losing blood. Every time I open her diaper there is only muscous and blood. We have decided not to take extreme measures to treat her. We're keeping her warm and praying that God will intervene. Your prayers are much appreciated right now. Thanks..."

This coming on the heels of several weeks of vicious attacks by anonymous internet posters sending Myah cruel and hateful messages of unimaginable content. Please pray for Myah and Faith.

Prayer Request: Diocese of Rochester (New York)

Bishop Fulton Sheen, sixth Bishop of the Diocese of Rochester

Rochester Catholic is asking that we join many hurting brothers and sisters in the Diocese of Rochester in prayer. There have been many +Ponderings+ entries on the current situation within the Diocese and most can be found HERE. There is a counter on the front page of their website where you can let them know how many rosaries/decades you have prayed for their intention.

From Rochester Catholic, a glimpse of the dire situation:

  • The diocese permits a canonically forbidden practice of allowing non-ordained persons to give homilies at Mass. The diocese justifies this practice by describing these homilies as “dialogue homilies”. The claim is that these homilies are a dialogue between the presiding priest and the non-ordained homilist. In truth, a dialogue homily is generally recognized as a practice that is to be occasionally utilized at Masses for children. The dialogue is supposed to be between the priest or deacon and the children. The most liberal interpretation of these dialogue homilies would be the allowance for a dialogue between the ordained minister and the congregation. A dialogue between the ordained minister and a non-ordained homilist does not fall under this understanding. Beyond this, the diocese’s non-ordained homilists are not engaging in dialogue with anyone. They preach the homily, without dialogue, in the same manner as a priest or deacon. Many have objected to this practice by sighting Canon Law. These written and verbal protests have not been successful.
  • The diocese has been rapidly clustering and closing parishes. These clusterings and closings often result in the governance of the parishes being turned over to non-ordained pastoral administrators. The priests that serve these parishes are then relegated to the position of “sacramental ministers”. Many times, these administrators are women who assume a liturgical posture that is confusing to many of the faithful. These administrators wear albs, preach homilies, preside over baptisms, and alter the liturgy. Some of these administrators are active in the Women’s Ordination Conference. They often bring an agenda which is contrary to the Church’s official recognition that only men can be ordained to the priesthood. These various offenses have been damaging to the faithful, and have driven many individuals and families out of their home parishes.
  • The diocese has become a destination of choice for dissident Catholic speakers. These speakers are here on a regular basis, and often appear under the sponsorship of parishes and Catholic Chairs at college campuses. For example, the notorious Roger Haight, who the Vatican has banned from teaching Catholic theology, has now been here two years in a row. He has spoken to Catholic audiences at the U of R, RIT and St. John Fisher. Speakers like this are rarely, if ever, censured or challenged by anyone in authority from the diocese. The faithful are never warned about the danger that these speakers present to their listening audiences, many of them young and poorly catechized.
That is just a small yet bitter taste of the problems that exist. They will have NO ordinations in either 2011 or 2012 and Mass attendance is steadily plummeting. Our parish, in the Diocese of Buffalo, has many people in the pews every week who travel to our church for Mass and devotions. Some drive as long as 40 minutes to attend Mass with us. Please include our brothers and sisters of the Diocese of Rochester in your daily prayers.

Think Prayers Outside of Abortion Clinics Don't Work?

I just added a new prayer request to the +Ponderings+ prayer list on the right side of the page. Shawn Carney at LifeSiteNews.com is reporting the following:

April 1, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - I won't tell you where this is happening, but there is a woman we know of who's pondering a career change.

An abortion center employee has been talking to the 40 Days for Life prayer volunteers outside of her workplace - and she wants out!

Her message was simple - she just couldn't take it any longer. It was time to look for a new job.

She asked the vigil participants to pray for her. She said she couldn't simply quit her job, because she needs the income. Her prayer request was that she be able to find a suitable position elsewhere so she could give her notice at the clinic.

She also said the prayers of the vigil participants have a definite impact at the clinic. "When there are prayers happening outside, she said the tone of what happens inside changes," the local campaign coordinator told me. "Everyone is aware of their presence, and she for one, can no longer pretend that what is happening is OK."

There are women in Carson City, Nevada who "can't take it any longer" either. Because of 40 Days for Life, they've learned the shocking truth that the ob/gyn practice they go to for routine health care also does abortions.

It is indeed a fact that many people are simply unaware that abortions are going on in their own communities - even at their own doctors' offices. But thanks to vigil participants and pro-life supporters, 40 Days for Life is opening their eyes.

This ob/gyn practice is "feeling the heat of our presence," said Carol Marie, one of the local 40 Days for Life coordinators. "We know of at least three patients who have left the practice once they learned that abortions are performed."

One of those women told the abortion clinic staff she would no longer be their patient and the receptionist gave her a stack of forms to fill out. But the woman's response was that she was only interested in one form - a form where she could explain to this medical practice why she was going away.

"She then proceeded to put a long note in writing as to exactly what she thought of an ob/gyn center performing abortions as a part of their regular practice," Carol Marie said.

"This wonderful woman has ensured that they fully appreciate the reason they have lost her as a patient. By being present at the sidewalk, we are informing their patients about what is being done behind closed doors," she said. "With enough patients lost, they could rethink their commitment to performing abortions."

She added, "If you ever wondered if what we've been doing has been making a difference, well the Lord has given us an answer, loud and clear."

Meet a Precious Miracle

A gift from God - Faith Hope Walker.

Faith is three days old today, and according to her mother Myah, quite an eater. Despite all projections of doctors, God has made it clear He has other plans for Faith. May He continue to bless Faith and her dear mother, who against the guidance of her physicians, chose life for Faith. Myah fought continually for this child and I cannot help but think of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the love and dedication she has for her Son. I am humbled to see the smile on the face of this beautiful infant and child of God. He truly is Great.

Courageous Mom Saves Her Child - If Only For One More Day

Myah is an expectant young mother who despite facing many more challenges than most of us can imagine, she chose life for her little girl.

Baby Faith has been diagnosed with anencephaly and this condition is said to be incompatible with life. Myah has done the best she can to see that Faith is given the greatest chance at whatever life God has planned for her, and like the Blessed Virgin Mary, she has said yes to Him.

Myah has just entered her 39th week of pregnancy and the time is upon us where Faith may enter the world at any time. Please keep Myah and Faith in your prayers. If you have a facebook account, a group for such prayers is located here.
